What kind of shampoo do you prefer for your dog?

She stinks. Like a dog. I am not a fan of stinky dog smell. I am looking for a shampoo that might help her smell better longer. What kind of shampoo do you prefer for your dog?
Buddy Wash is a brand that smells great and can be found at Petco. My dog rolled in something yesterday, and he really needed a bath. When he was done, he smelled of lavender and mint!

Dogs dont generally smell if they are groomed regularly, so it may be her anal glands or her teeth that are causing the problem.

I prefer Quistel which is an excellent shampoo, and I use a grooming spray like link below every few weeks, which serves as an excellent air freshener!!

You might want to consider changing her diet. Poor quality dog foods will cause your dog to emit stinkier odors. Its like when we eat too much garlic and what not. It comes out through our skin. See where your food stacks up at the link below. We feed our lab Canidae, and he doesn't stink at all. Unless he's been swimming all day, but who can fault that? =]

As far as washing goes, we wash him once every 6ish weeks or so. Too much washing can dry out their skin and cause you more problems. We use an oatmeal based soap that says it is geared towards retrievers. I just used the last of it a couple weeks ago so I don't have the name handy. I just know it by sight at the store. They also have these doggy wipes that you can use between washings, but I have nbever used those. Occasionally if I think he's a bit stinky, I will rub hi down with a scented dryer sheet. Temporary fix, but it works for awhile.
I have LC Chihuahuas and bath them every week. I found that repeating the shampoo helps them smell better longer. Because they are handled so much (which makes them stinkier faster) I also use a spray. Washing their bedding/floor each time I bathe them really cut down on the odor too.
I use Dessert Essence Organic Tea Tree Shampoo. It is for humans but has less dyes and perfume then most dog shampoos. It keeps my German Shepherd from smelling too doggy for the whole month.
