What is the difference between normal shampoo and conditioning shampoo?

I have used conditioning shampoo for the past two months, and so far, there has not been much difference from the normal shampoo. However, my mother is of the opinion that one cannot use conditioning shampoo for long as it will result in dandruff. So what are the differences between normal shampoo and conditioning shampoo, and are there different effects these shampoo have on one's hair?What is the difference between normal shampoo and conditioning shampoo?
Conditioning Shampoo has conditioner built it, it's like two in one. You're not supposed to use conditioner when you use it, but I find that it doesn't work as good as conditioner. Not at all.
